College Baseball Update

Oklahoma

Record: 25-5

Looking ahead: The No. 10 Sooners travel to rival Texas for a three-game series this weekend with contests on Friday (6:30 p.m.), Saturday (2:30 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.).

Looking back: Oklahoma had its 13-game win streak extinguished in a 10-8 loss to Kansas. The Sooners did win the series. A nonconference Bedlam game against Oklahoma State was canceled due to weather.

Notable: RHP Jonathan Gray became the first OU player to win Big 12 pitcher of the week honors three times in one season. He had 12 strikeouts in a 12-1 complete-game win. ... Freshman 1B Kolbey Carpenter had a solid Kansas series which included his first career homer and a three-RBI game. ... DH Matt Oberste, who had a school-record 30-game hitting streak, has a team-high 15 multi-hit games.

Oklahoma State

Record: 21-6

Looking ahead: No. 19 Oklahoma State begins an eight-game road swing with a Big 12 Conference series at Kansas on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.). The Cowboys will then travel to Tulsa to face ORU at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at ONEOK Field.

Looking back: The Cowboys' 24-game homestand ended with 19 victories and a series triumph over Texas.

Notable: Oklahoma State has 159 RBIs this season, with 60 coming with two outs. Zach Fish leads the Cowboys with 11 two-out RBIs. ... Tanner Krietemeier had an 18-game hit streak snapped over the weekend, but has a .368 batting average that leads OSU and ranks sixth in the Big 12. ... Closer Brendan McCurry is 3-1 with an 0.46 ERA. He's only allowed one earned run in 12 outings (19 2/3 innings pitched).

Oral Roberts

Record: 9-18

Looking ahead: Oral Roberts makes its first trip to Stephen F. Austin for a three-game Southland Conference set on Friday (6:30 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.). The Golden Eagles will host Oklahoma State at ONEOK Field on Tuesday and UALR at Johnson Stadium on Wednesday.

Looking back: ORU lost two of three in a Southland Conference series at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The team had a nonconference game against visiting Missouri State canceled due to rain.

Notable: Junior RHP Alex Gonzalez is the Southland's pitcher of the week after throwing a complete-game, eight-strikeout performance against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. ... Gonzalez leads the conference with a 1.81 ERA and entered the week ranked 11th nationally in strikeouts (58). ... Wednesday's game against UALR will be Faith and Family Night at ORU.
